Abstract

Heart failure (HF), often used to mean chronic heart failure (CHF), occurs when the heart is incapable to pump adequately to maintain blood flow to meet the needs of the body. The present study was conducted in patients with left ventricular dysfunction regarding their profile, demographic factors, clinical presentations and Electrocardiogram, Two Dimensional Echocardiogram, angiogram findings, causes, compare the cost and estimate potential cost savings of commonly prescribed drugs. A prospective observational study was conducted for seven months (August 2017 - February 2018) at Malla Reddy, Narayana Hrudayalaya and Yashoda Hospitals. The patients who met the study criteria were enrolled into the study and the following information was collected: patient demographics, presenting complaints, Past Medication History, Family History, various parameters, current medication and revascularization procedures if any. The data collected manually was reviewed and entered into the Microsoft Excel database. The early detection of LVD risk factors such as Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, MI, SOB, Left Bundle Branch Block and also angiographic findings, Ejection Fraction values can help in the minimization of mortality and morbidity of the LVD patients. By prescribing low-cost drugs we can reduce the treatment expenses by 49.9% to the patients enrolled in our study.
